Introduction
Pre-Intermediate Power is an online course, consisting of 100 units of English, and providing approximately 120 hours of study for students.
Course aims
To take students from Pre-Intermediate, CEFR A2 up to B1. The course blends grammatical structures necessary for this level, with vocabulary, spelling, phrasal verbs, reading, listening, writing, and speaking.
Grammar
- Form sentences in the present, past, and future, in affirmative, negative, and interrogative forms, using continuous forms for present actions.
- Use the present perfect to talk about past experience.
- Discuss quantity using countable and uncountable nouns with “some” and “any”, and “much”, “many”, and “a lot of”.
- Use modal verbs for functions such as ability, possibility, and obligation.
- Connect sentences with a range of conjunctions and linking words.
- Identify and use transitive and intransitive verbs correctly with gerund or infinitive forms.
- Use articles and correct word order for affirmative, negative, and interrogative sentences.
Vocabulary
By the end of the course, students will have learned approximately 800 lexical items, including common phrasal verbs, nouns, verbs, adjectives, and lexical sets.
Skills
By the end of the course, students will have exposure to and practice in reading and listening to everyday routines, biographies, countries, cities, descriptions, and opinions.
