Let’s Start 40, Course B

Introduction

Let’s Start, Course B is an online course, consisting of 40 units of English, and providing approximately 40 hours of study for students.

Course aims

This course continues from Let’s Start, Course A, guiding students from CEFR A0/A1 up to A1, preparing them to study an elementary course. The focus is on basic grammatical forms and essential, high-frequency vocabulary.

Grammar

By the end of the course, students will be able to:

  • Use the verb “to be” in the affirmative, negative, and interrogative with nouns, verbs in the present participle, and adjectives.
  • Use the present simple and present continuous forms of verbs.
  • Use demonstratives, “there is/there are”, and “can” as a modal verb for ability.
  • Create questions starting with question words for information and auxiliary verbs for affirmative or negative answers.

Vocabulary

By the end of the course, students will have learned approximately 75 common nouns and had practice in numbers, the alphabet, and spelling.

  • Grammar: Possessive adjectives (my, your, his, her, our, their, its)
  • Vocabulary: Verbs, useful words, spelling
  • Grammar: Yes/No questions (using do and be)
  • Revision: Material from units 1-53

  • Vocabulary: Adjectives, countries and nationalities, spelling
  • Grammar: Information questions (using question words)
  • Vocabulary: Verbs, wordbuilding
  • Grammar: Can for ability
  • Vocabulary: Adjectives, clothes

Follow-up

Students completing Let’s Start, Course B will be confident in tackling elementary-level courses, including the Elementary Power course.
