Introduction
Focus on KET is an online course designed for students who are thinking of taking the Cambridge Keystage English Test. It consists of 12 modules and 200 units of English and provides approximately 120 hours of study for students.
Course aims
- Take students from Elementary CEFR A1 up to A2.
- Provide coaching and practice in all areas of the KET exam to ensure students are fully prepared when taking the test.
- Blend grammatical structures necessary for this level with vocabulary including simple verb + preposition combinations, spelling, reading, listening, writing, and speaking.
Grammar
By the end of the course, students will be able to…
- Use present simple and present continuous verb forms, as well as simple past with regular and irregular verbs in the affirmative, negative, and interrogative forms.
- Talk about future prediction and intention using will and going to.
- Use the present perfect simple to talk about past experience.
- Identify things using there is/there are, have got, possessive adjectives and pronouns, articles, and the possessive genitive.
- Talk about adjectives including comparative and superlative forms.
- Create yes/no and information questions.
- Give information on time and place using prepositions.
- Use the modal verbs can, could, must, should, may, and might.
- Use adverbs of frequency.
- Use prepositions of place and time.
- Use simple connecting words.
- Compare adjectives and adverbs using comparatives and superlatives.
- Talk about quantity.
Vocabulary
- Learn approximately 1000 lexical items including common nouns, verbs, adjectives, and simple lexical sets.
Skills
- Exposure to and practice in reading and hearing about everyday routines, biographies, countries and cities, TV and films, and simple stories.
