Introduction

Complete English level 05: Essentials is an online course, consisting of 12 units of English, and providing approximately 15 hours of study for students.

Course aims

As part of a series of short courses, this course, along with level 01, level 03, and level 04, aims to take students from CEFR Level A0 to CEFR Level A1, providing the essential grammar and vocabulary designed to allow students to get a foothold in the language, from where they can start to study at an elementary level. The course focuses on basic grammatical forms and essential, high-frequency lexis.

Grammar

By the end of the course, students will be confident in using the verb ‘to be’ with simple nouns.

Vocabulary

By the end of the course, students will have learnt approximately 800 lexical items, including common nouns, verbs, and adjectives, and simple lexical sets.

Vocabulary: Verbs, wordbuilding

Grammar: Can for ability

Vocabulary: Adjectives, clothes

Unit 12

Revision: Material from units 7-12, plus revision from courses 01-04

Students completing the Complete English level 05 course should move on to Complete English level 06.
