Introduction<\/h3>

Focus on CPE is an online course designed for students who are thinking of taking the Cambridge Proficiency Exam. It consists of 12 modules and 200 units of English and provides approximately 120 hours of study for students.<\/p>

Course aims<\/h3>
  • Take students from Advanced CEFR C1 up to C2.<\/li>
  • Provide coaching and practice in all areas of the CPE exam to ensure students are fully prepared when taking the test.<\/li>
  • Blend grammatical structures necessary for this level with vocabulary, spelling, reading, listening, writing, and speaking.<\/li><\/ul>

    By the end of the course, students will be able to…<\/p>

        • Manipulate word order to create subtlety of meaning, emphasis, and humour.<\/li>
        • Use cleft sentences to deflect difficult questions and take possession of an argument.<\/li>
        • Use more complex passive forms and know when to use the active and passive voice.<\/li>
        • Use advanced passive verb forms.<\/li>
        • Use conditional forms to talk about future possible and unlikely situations, alternative present situations, and hypothetical past situations and their results.<\/li>
        • Use alternatives to If structures and manipulate verb forms in conditional sentences to express a range of subtle meanings.<\/li>
        • Connect sentences using conjunctions and other connecting words.<\/li>
        • Identify transitive and intransitive verbs and accurately follow them with gerund or infinitive forms.<\/li>
        • Report statements and questions using complex verb forms and structures.<\/li>
        • Use past forms of modal verbs to express possibility, regret, certainty, and negative certainty.<\/li>
        • Use present and past subjunctives to add formality to speaking or writing.<\/li>
        • Use inversion for formality or dramatic emphasis.<\/li>
        • Place adverbs and adverbials in their correct positions within sentences.<\/li>
        • Use fronting and prefacing to add variety to spoken English.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul>
