In English language there is an interesting way of speaking about consequences we can see of events which happened in unspecified past, or life experiences or announcing the news… We use the Present Perfect Simple tense, which works like a bridge, connecting past events, states with the presence:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Use the Present Perfect for:<\/h1>\n

1) Life experiences in the past.<\/h2>\n

We don’t say when these happened: we are interested in the experience, not the time or date. We often use ever and never.<\/span><\/p>\n

    \n
  • I’ve seen<\/span> all Tarantino’s films.<\/li>\n
  • Have you ever eaten<\/span> sushi? – Yes, I have. \/ No, I haven’t.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    2) Recent past actions that are important now.<\/h2>\n
      \n
    • Oh no! I’ve left<\/span> my wallet on the bus.<\/li>\n
    • The president has resigned.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      3) Past situations that are still happening now.<\/h2>\n

      We often use how long<\/span> with for<\/span> (throughout a period of time) and since<\/span> (from a point in the past until now) and we describe the duration of an activity or state:<\/p>\n

      • I haven’t seen<\/span> <\/strong>Jenny this morning. (It is still this morning.)<\/li>\n

      • Jack’s been<\/span> <\/strong>in Italy since<\/span> January.<\/li>\n
      • <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

        4)<\/strong> With just, already, yet<\/strong><\/span> to talk about recent events and completed actions in the past. The exact time is not important. Use just<\/strong> <\/span>and already<\/strong><\/span> mainly in positive sentences. Use yet<\/strong><\/span> in negatives and questions.<\/p>\n

        • I’ve just finished my work.<\/span> Let’s go out.<\/li>\n
        • Can you feed the cat? – I’ve already fed it.<\/li>\n
        • We can still watch the film.It hasn’t started yet<\/span>.<\/span><\/li>\n
        • Have you done <\/span>your English homework yet.<\/span>?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

          \nFor positive sentences, the form is subject + have\/has + past participle<\/span>.<\/strong> Make negatives with not<\/span> <\/strong>and change the word order to make questions<\/div>\n
