world is your oyster, the

Explanation: What is an idiom?

You have the opportunity to do anything you want.

Context:

"Hey George, I won the lottery today!"

"I can't believe it! You're so lucky. It's going to change your life. Hey, no more drinking in the Dog and Duck, you'll be sipping champagne with the high flyers, rubbing shoulders with the rich and famous, jetting off for holidays in the Caribbean. No more economy class either, top of the range first class. Time for a new car. A Ferrari maybe, or a Rolls. I tell you, now you've won the lottery, the world is your oyster. Nothing can stop you now. Nothing! How much did you win?"

"£10."

"Barman!"

Notes:

An oyster is a shellfish that often has a pearl in it. This pearl is of course very valuable. To get to the pearl is difficult because the oyster is very difficult to open...unless you know the trick, which is to cut the muscle which holds the 'door' shut. Once you have done that, you can get to the pearl inside.
